International bodybuilder Sameer Dabilkar said at the time of his death:
He left bodybuilding four years ago. He was in financial trouble due to the lockdown. Neither he nor Lakhan, a bodybuilder here, received proper treatment and died as a result. Even his wife has contracted the coronavirus. His landlord did not allow them to move out of the Vadodara house as he had no money to pay the rent.
