In 2006, Jaiveer Shergill joined the Delhi Bar Council to practice law and started working in the Economic Law Practice Unit as a Legal Assistant. Economic Laws Practice is a recognized Indian law firm specializing in tax and commercial cases. In 2008, he joined the chamber of commerce with senior lawyer, Rajya Sabha member and Indian National Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi to practice law. In the same year, Jaiveer Shergill began serving as the Young India Representative of the International Bar Association, the world’s most prestigious legal organization, and served until 2009. In 2011, he argued the famous case of Shakhadri in Karnataka, where he filed a petition in the Supreme Court against a contentious religious dispute in which two religious groups in the state petitioned to Place for religious ceremonies.

Soon after Javier Shergill joined the Indian National Congress, he was appointed as a member of the National Media Cell of the Indian National Congress, Spokesperson of the Congress Party in Punjab and Co-Chairman of the Legal Cell of the Congress Party in Punjab. - On August 24, 2022, Javier Shergill resigned as the national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress and accused the party leader of sycophancy within the party. Talking to the media, he revealed that he has been trying to meet Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for over a year but they did not receive him. He said,
