Comedian and writer Jak Knight unexpectedly left for Los Angeles on Thursday night. According to a statement from his family, the co-creator of the movie Bust Down died at the age of 28. However, the reason for his death remains undetermined. Netizens and celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to the rising star after his death made headlines.
The LA comedian was best known for his work on many television programs, including Black-ish and Big Mouth. A family spokeswoman said fans were asked to maintain their privacy during this “very difficult time.”
All about Jak Knight’s career
Originally from Seattle, the comedian eventually moved to Los Angeles. In 2013, he participated in Fox’s animated comedy Lucas Bros. Moving Company, and the following year he was named a comic to watch by Comedy Central. In 2015, he was chosen as New Face at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. That same year, he performed with such giants as Dave Chappelle, Eric Andre, Moshe Kasher, Aziz Ansari and Joel McHale at the Oddball Comedy Festival.
In 2017, the comedy genius became a writer and story editor for the Netflix series Big Mouth. In addition to being a writer for the program, he also voiced the character of DeVon, who appeared in 28 episodes. Knight became a frequent performer on the late-night program Pause With Sam Jay in 2021, as well as producing the show. Seven episodes of the second season of the series, which premiered in May, were written by the comedian.
As a Roku channel writer for Bill Burr’s Immoral Compass sketch comedy series, Jak Knight has added to his list of accomplishments. Knight was also a frequent NBA2K player, with Hannibal Buress and Michael B Jordan, according to his official website. It wasn’t just his fans who mourned Knight’s death. Following the news of his death, Jakov’s Bust Down family issued the following statement:
“He was a wonderful comic, visionary and artist, and we were all lucky enough to see his brilliance. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jacob’s family, friends and community at this difficult time.”
In addition, Comedy Central took to Twitter to pay tribute to the comic, describing him as a “funny and honest entertainer”. Other comedians and celebrities were also devastated by the news of Knight’s death. Among those people were comedians Kumail Nanjiani, Tom Dillon and TJ Chambers.

People took to Twitter to express their grief over the comedian’s death, with several recalling fond experiences with Knight, they said. Fans also said Knight was “what the culture needs” and called him the future Goat (the best of all time). Others said he was “truly one of the funniest comedians” they had ever seen and expressed deep sadness at his death.
