Jake Gyllenhaal Shows Off His Vocal Chops with Hilarious Boyz II Men Parody During SNL Hosting Gig

Jake Gyllenhaal can belt out a tune!

The actor (43) is back to host Saturday night live season 49 finale on May 18 with Sabrina Carpenter, who was the musical guest.

During his opening monologue, Gyllenhaal mocked hosting the Season 49 finale, instead of the Season 50 milestone premiere.

“When you think of historic television seasons, the first number that comes to mind is 49,” Star Road House He said. “I mean, of course, you know, one more episode and I’d be hosting the season 50 premiere. But who cares?”

He then sang “End Of The Road” by Boyz II Men, where he named all the celebrities who had been asked to host the season finale before him. “They asked Pedro Pascal but he wasn’t around / Zendaya said no because she’d be out of town / She even asked [Ryan] Gosling will be back again, he just hosted three shows ago,” he sang.

Gyllenhaal hosted the late night comedy sketch for the third time. He hosted first SNL 2007 and then returned again as host in 2022.

At the time, he joked about how much time had passed between his appearances in his opening monologue, saying: “The last time I hosted was in 2007. You know how long ago that was? That was like 400 Marvel movies ago.”

During his last guest appearance, Gyllenhaal participated in various skits, including one in which he parodied himself Scooby Dooand that too mocked fast fashion.

The Oscar nominee recently starred in the Prime Video film Roadhousea remake of the classic 1989 action film starring Patrick Swayze and Kelly Lynch.

A sequel to the remake was quickly given the green light after the film garnered nearly 80 million viewers worldwide.

The streaming service shared the news on Instagram ahead of Gyllenhaal’s guest appearance, writing, “With nearly 80 million viewers to date, Jake Gyllenhaal will reprise his role as Elwood Dalton in the Road House sequel.”

Gyllenhaal also stars in and executive produces the Apple TV+ legal thriller He is presumed innocentwhose premiere is scheduled for June 12.

Based on The New York Times Scott Turow’s bestseller of the same name, the eight-part limited series follows Gyllenhaal as Deputy District Attorney Rusty Sabich who becomes involved in the murder of a woman during the investigation. Ruth Negga, Peter Sarsgaard and OT Fagbenle also star.

Saturday night live airs Saturdays at 11:30pm EST on NBC and returns in the fall.
