James Reed Director Wikipedia, Instagram, Chimp Empire, Net Worth – The Oscar-winning documentary My Octopus Teacher’s director, James Reed, and Underdog Films have established a one-year development agreement with BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit.

Reed will work with Matt Houghton, his creative partner at Underdog Films, to expand BBC Studios’ pipeline of natural history feature films and improve the Natural History Unit’s creative process.

James Reed and the Natural History Unit at BBC Studios collaborate on projects.

The multi-award-winning films Jago – A Life Under Water and Rise of the Warrior Apes are among Reed’s directorial credits. Reed gained more recognition in 2021 as the director of My Octopus Teacher, a Netflix hit that won the Best Documentary Feature Award at the 93rd Academy Awards and told the tale of a South African filmmaker who develops an unexpected friendship with an octopus.

‘I’m happy to be embarking on a collaborative development partnership with James Reed and Matt Houghton, the excellent creative talents of Underdog Films,’ said Jonny Keeling, Head of BBC Studios Natural History Unit.
