Jamie Foxx Resumes Filming Back in Action with Cameron Diaz in Atlanta After Medical Scare

Jamie Foxx returns to the set!

On Saturday, the 56-year-old actor was spotted on the set of his upcoming Netflix movie Back in action with costar Cameron Diaz for the first time since suffering a medical emergency last April.

Jamie was photographed on set in Atlanta walking with his hands in his pockets next to Diaz, 51. Both were casually dressed.

A source close to the film’s set told PEOPLE that Foxx was “very quiet” during filming and “just focused on the work.”

Jamie Foxx became emotional in first public appearance after medical scare: ‘I actually couldn’t walk’

After recording for Back in action which began in December 2022, the duo were spotted filming various scenes around London, from cruising on a speedboat to hiking through a snow-covered forest.

Production later moved to Atlanta, where Jamie and Diaz worked on the action comedy until Jamie’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, revealed he was dealing with a “medical complication” via an Instagram post.

In a statement shared on behalf of the Foxx family, Corinne, 29, wrote: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Fortunately, due to quick action and great care, he is now on his way to recovery. We know how much he is loved and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

Foxx has been seen on set before Back in action in Atlanta just days before the announcement.

His medical incident did not occur while he was on set and he was not transported to the hospital by ambulance, PEOPLE later confirmed.

Later in May, Jamie broke his silence about his health ordeal, saying he “feels blessed” as he thanked his followers for their support.

Corinne then posted an update on his health shortly after, revealing that he had been released from hospital and was “on the mend”.

Foxx spoke again about his health scare last July, dismissing various rumors and revealing to his Instagram followers that he was “coming back” and “fit to work.”

The following month, he shared another message on Instagram, writing that he was “finally starting to feel like me” after an “unexpected dark journey”.

Last month, while we were talking about Back in action — marking her return to the big screen after nearly a decade — Diaz shot down some of the rumors surrounding the film, including that Jamie was “crazy” on set.

“I really hate everything that was said about our set at the time,” Molly Sims said on the show. Lipstick on the rim podcast. “You just want to scream at the top of your lungs, like, ‘What are you talking about?’ ”

“Jamie is, like, the cheerleader of the whole team. Everybody loves him,” she continued. “We have a lot of fun on set with him, and he’s just a professional on every level.”

The star also said she “had fun” working on the film, adding that Jamie — who she previously worked with on the film in 1999. Any Sunday and in 2014 Annie – is the best.”

“I love that guy so much,” she added. “He’s such a special person, he’s so talented, he’s so funny.”
