Jamie Lynn Spears talks about how her family reacted to her debut performance at the Dancing with the stars.
32 year old Zoey 102 star said it “meant everything” to have her daughters — Maddie, 15, and Ivey, 5 — in the audience cheering her on during one of the dance competitions with mom Lynne Spears.
“It was like, OK, at least have that, the day has passed, I’ve got my girls here and my family, and that’s it,” she said. Party tonight. “I don’t think it would be nearly as special without them.”
“Dancing with the Stars” premiere: Charity Lawson left the judges speechless, and Ariana Madix got her revenge
The sweet magnolia the actress shared that her daughters were “really proud” of her tango to Mabel’s “Don’t Call Me Up” with partner Alan Bersten.
“My youngest, she slept most of the show, but she woke up for my performance,” she said. “And then my oldest said she cried at the end. It made me feel like, really, I don’t know. It was weird to see my 15-year-old proud watching her mom dance on TV.”
Spears added that joining the ABC dance competition served as a “bonding experience for us, so I really enjoyed it.”
The former Nickelodeon star shared a series of photos from the premiere with her family on Instagram, sharing, “a huge THANK YOU to all those who work so incredibly hard to pull off such a massively difficult production like this and still manage to make it so wonderful even when you so nervous you need to throw up💃🏼”
She continued, “a big THANK YOU to all my friends, family and fans for the amazing support and VOTES for us last night! I’m honored to have this amazing experience and can use it as an opportunity to give back to my #SAG community who can’t work as we continue to fight the good fight🖤💛 love you. Thanks everyone.”
Jamie Lynn Spears joins ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and says she’s donating salary to SAG-AFTRA, WGA amid strike
She shared a dance she performs in her video package before the evening Dancing with the stars to inspire his daughters.
“I’m here to show my kids that there’s nothing more rewarding than being afraid of failure and doing it anyway,” she explained.
It was announced last month Good morning America that Spears joined the cast of DWTS in Season 32.
When asked if she was ready for that, Spears said GMA“I don’t know if you can ever be 100 percent ready to take on something this big; I didn’t realize what kind of commitment it was, but it definitely is. I’m ready to challenge myself.”
Spears then revealed that she would be donating her weekly earnings to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. (The WGA strike has since ended.)
“While everyone else in my community is on strike, I have this unique opportunity where I’ve been offered the chance to work when my community can’t work. So I figured I’d do this and I’d donate my weekly wages… just give back to them at a time when they cannot fight back,” she said.

As for how her family reacted to the casting news, Spears said they were supportive of her putting on her dancing shoes.
“My 15-year-old self was actually very motivated to do it, which was actually very surprising,” she noted. “My 15-year-old said, ‘You’re going to dance on TV? What are you doing mom?’ But she said, ‘Mom, you have to do it.’ She’s an athlete, so I think she wants to see me work hard.”
“Normally I would be working on different ventures, but I think it’s just important that I have this opportunity,” she continued. “And if I go up there, even if I embarrass myself, I’m doing it for a good reason and hopefully I’m giving back to a community that’s literally been giving back to me since I was a little girl.”
