Jane Seymour and boyfriend John Zambetti thank their children for putting them up.
While attending the 12th annual Wags and Walks charity event on Saturday night, the 72-year-old actress described how she and her musician beau got together after making it Instagram official earlier this month.
“Well, our kids brought us together,” Zambetti told PEOPLE exclusively at the event, while Seymour echoed, “Yes, our kids brought us together.”
“So we certainly don’t have to worry about the kids disapproving of who we were with,” Zambetti added. “I’m very happy to be with her.”

According to Seymour, her new beau “wrote me some love songs. He’s a songwriter. I think that’s what really hit me in the end.”
“Just to make a deal,” Zambetti added, while Seymour joked, “Yeah. Three so far. I think the album is on the way.”
The couple believe their union is written in the stars, as their sons share a common musical background, which they say is what brought them to each other.
“His son is a very successful rock musician with the group The Palms. And his name is Johnny Zambetti,” Seymour told PEOPLE. “I have a son who is also a rock musician, Johnny Keach, so when we talk about them, we say ‘My Johnny,’ [since] they both have the same name.”
Seymour married and divorced four times. She shares children Katherine, 41, and Sean Flynn, 38, with ex-husband David Flynn, and also shares twin sons John Stacy and Kristopher Steven, 27, with ex-husband James Keach.
When it comes to spending time with her new partner, the couple share that they like to “go to a lot of musical things.”
“I have a lot of friends who are musicians in town,” Zambetti told PEOPLE. “We love going to see them play. And she never went diving to see, there is real music there. Real players play there. So she loves it. He likes to go everywhere and he likes music.”
“So I like to introduce her to things that, even though she’s lived here for a long time, she really wasn’t aware of that side of LA,” he added.
Seymour is in a new relationship with John Zambetti.

Seymour went Instagram official with Zambetti last week, after posting photos of the pair posing by the pool together.
Now in her 70s, Seymour tells PEOPLE that her new relationship has been “absolutely fantastic” so far.

Seymour also shared that she and Zambetti have a romantic tradition of celebrating their anniversary every month since they’ve been together.
“This time in your life, you’re not going to wait 50 years, are you?” Seymour said.
