Janelle Brown is celebrating her son Gabriel “Gabe” Brown’s 22nd birthday amid lingering tension between him and his father, Kody Brown.
On Wednesday, Sister wives the star shared a montage video of Gabe cleaning the snow, petting the dog and enjoying nature.
“Happy birthday @gaberown! I hope your next year is better than ever,” she captioned the clip alongside a melodic version of “Happy Birthday.”
She continued, “Thank you for being a son who always looks out for his mom, who feels deeply and has the most tender hearts.”

The birthday message comes after the 54-year-old mom shared her concerns about how sons Gabe and Garrison Brown, 24, handled their strained relationship with their father on the latest episode of the TLC series.
“Me and Garrison are at odds with my dad, because when we expressed our displeasure with how things are going with COVID, I hit a wall,” Gabriel said at the start of Sunday’s episode. “And there was no line of dialogue. I think that’s what really drove the wedge between us.”
In a later confession, Janelle said, “I was worried about my boys’ mental health. Gabriel feels everything very, very deeply. But he’s also a kid who doesn’t say anything.”
Of Garrison, she added that he “just seems angrier or sadder, like he’s not as cheerful as he used to be.”

Christine Brown weighed in on the changed family dynamic, noting, “My kids are more used to Kody not being in their lives. He just wasn’t around as much.”
“But he was around Janelle’s kids,” the 51-year-old continued. “It’s just a lot more devastating for them than it was for my kids.”
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Kody admitted that he feels “powerless” when it comes to seeing eye-to-eye with his older children and admitted that their relationship has become strained.
“Your relationship with your 10-year-old or your 5-year-old or your babies is very different than the relationship you have with a 15-year-old, a 20-year-old, a 25- and a 30-year-old. one year old. It’s very different,” he said. “I didn’t have any power in my household to say, ‘These are the rules.'”
