In shocking scenes, Farrell approached Navarro and screamed at him as the team ran to break up Barney.

A new statement released by Navarro said: “Due to the continued pattern of behavior and mental health issues of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to end the current US tour.

“Our concern for his personal health and safety, as well as our own, has left us with no alternative. We hope he finds the help he needs.

“We deeply regret that we are unable to access all of our fans who have already purchased tickets. We do not see any solution that would ensure a safe stage environment or reliably allow us to deliver an excellent performance on a nightly basis.”

The musician signed the statement with the words: “Our hearts are broken. Dave, Eric and Stephen.”

News of an onstage incident broke last Friday between Jane’s Addiction singer Farrell and Red Hot Chilli Pepper legend Navarro.

Farrell, 65, was caught on camera losing his cool while playing Ocean Days, before tackling Navarro, 57.

He was caught shouting and screaming into his microphone on stage before appearing to shout ‘Fuck you’ and lunge at Navarro.

Farrell could then be seen approaching his bandmate, while Navarro placed a hand on his chest to try and hold him back.

As Farrell yelled in his face, he raised his hand and pushed Navarro’s arm away, causing Navarro to stumble backwards.

A backstage crew member quickly rushed toward the chaos and attempted to restrain Farrell.

The singer then doubled over and dropped to the floor, struggling with four men trying to keep him still.

Navarro, still holding his guitar, calmly walked to the front of the stage – where the lights were now dimmed – and put his instrument down.

The concert was then abruptly stopped. Jane’s Addiction later canceled their next show in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Offering refunds to fans who bought tickets, the band said in a brief statement: “We would like to sincerely apologize to our fans for the events that took place last night.”

Farrell’s ‘real reason to fight’

Meanwhile, Perry Farrell’s wife has spoken out and claimed she knows the real reason her husband punched his bandmate.

Etty Lau, who has been married to the musician for 22 years, published a long statement in defense of her husband on Instagram.

She claimed he suffered from voice problems and ‘feeling his bandmates were suffocating him with their instruments, he lost it’.

Ety said: “Perry’s frustration grew night after night, he felt the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band.

“Perry suffered from tinnitus and sore throat every night.

“But when the front row crowd started heckling Perry, swearing that the band was planning too loud and they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost.”

She also said the band started playing Ocean Days before Farrell was ready and ended up “screaming just to be heard”.

Ety said “Eric Avery won the battle,” after the bassist stepped in to restrain Farrell.

She added that her husband was “a crazed beast for the next half hour” and had a breakdown, crying backstage.

Jane’s Addiction was scheduled to hold 12 more tours in Canada and the US, ending in California on October 16.
