After graduating with a Bachelor of Technology degree, Jaspreet started working as a software engineer at Samsung Research in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. While working at Samsung, one of his friends introduced him to stand-up comedy. Later, he joined Sapient (an American IT company) in Gurgaon, where he worked as a senior associate from April 2015 to January 2018.
As a comedian
From a young age, Jaspreet wanted to make people laugh. He loved listening to tapes of famous Indian comedians like Bhagwant Mann and Johnny Lever. In sixth grade, he wrote in someone’s slam book that he wanted to be a comedian.
While at Sapient, Jaspreet started performing at open mics. As of 2020, he has performed over 700 shows and performed in over 60 cities in India, the US, Australia, UK, Vietnam, Qatar, and the UAE. His solo shows “Tu Toh Chup Hi Reh” and “Koi Load Nahi” have sold over 23,000 tickets combined.
In an interview, when asked about his favorite type of comedy to perform, he said,
Merko comedy real life wali karni achi lagti hai. My friend and I are married. Why can’t I write novels, I mainly write jokes and stories, but my life is about love. These genres are anecdotal and observational, and they are varied in content. ”
He uploaded his first YouTube video, “Dad, Savings and Milk,” hoping it would get more than 100,000 views so he could get on a corporate show. But the video went viral and he became an overnight sensation. Later, the video has been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube.
Jaspreet Singh has a podcast on the Gaana app called “Thoda Chill Thoda Grill.” He also has a show on YouTube called “Jassi Doesn’t Like It,” where he criticizes things on the internet that he doesn’t like.
