During his internship, he worked as a Media and Communications Assistant, handling media releases and journals from over a thousand students from around the world and organizing seminars for participants from prestigious organizations like the International Monetary Fund. He also worked closely with several senators and department heads during his internship at President’s Classroom. The early years of Jatin Sapru’s career were tough. Before getting a permanent job with a degree in Journalism, Sapru worked odd jobs to sustain his daily expenses. He distributed pamphlets in public, ran a teleprompter for a news channel, and took photos at fashion shows. During interviews at news channels, he was humiliated and rejected many times. In one interview, Jatin narrated an incident where he was not even allowed to enter the premises of a news channel as a guard outside the office shredded his resume and threw it into a trash bin. Frustrating as it was, young Jatin even thought of quitting the profession and looking for other career options; however, he persevered. He was employed by Tangerine Digital, a digital content management company, in October 2006 while still pursuing his university degree. Not only did he make it through the audition, he also won the competition.

Jatin signed with ESPN Sports in 2008 and has been associated with the company ever since. He started out as a TV presenter at ESPN and over time, he rose to become a great sports commentator. Jatin Sapru has been in the industry for over a decade and has hosted matches of major international cricket tournaments alongside cricket legends. He is one of the most renowned cricket presenters, though he has not attended cricket matches in a professional capacity.
dispute
Although Sapru is the type of person who prefers to stay away from controversy, he once landed in hot water for mocking former Pakistan fast bowler legend Shoaib Akhtar during a post-match discussion show in 2016. The incident took place after India beat Pakistan in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament, when Jatin Sapru burst into laughter before asking Akhtar a question. This caused the Rawalpindi Express to lose his cool. Responding to Jatin Sapru, Akhtar said,
Tell me first, what were you laughing at? Are you sitting here to ask for my opinion or to ridicule me? You can’t call me to the studio to ridicule me. “
The incident has angered cricket fans in India and Pakistan, who have called Sapru’s behaviour completely unprofessional.
After the controversy intensified, Jatin partially explained the matter, saying that his laughter was completely misinterpreted by the audience and he actually had no intention of insulting Shoaib Akhtar, whom he considers as his elder brother.
