Hot couple Jay Allen and Kylie Morgan celebrated their first wedding anniversary by jetting off to Hawaii for some fun more good.
“Yeah, we were in Kapalua, Maui,” Allen, 37, tells PEOPLE in a recent interview. “We were invited to go there and organize a charity event for the victims of the fire.”
And while the reason they were there was a bit somber as they recognized the fires that killed hundreds, they also found time to celebrate.
“I know it sounds silly, but it’s a real-life love story,” Allen explains of his longtime relationship with Morgan, 28. “I just felt like she’s always been mine. But yeah, it’s hard to believe it’s really been a year since we got married. That lady is my soulmate.”

But even though they are kindred spirits, the two rarely find themselves in the same place for very long. Morgan recently finished her tour with Old Dominion and will embark on her own headlining tour in 2024.
And while Allen is also preoccupied with personal and professional commitments, the two seem to understand that this is their lives at the moment, for better or for worse.
“We never see each other,” Allen, who lives with his wife in a house on Nashville’s east side, admits with a laugh. “She was out with Old Dominion … and I don’t know how to say ‘no’ to things. I mean, we’re never home. It’s a joke. We high-five at the airport and really, it’s happened a few times. But yeah, okay is. It works for us. It’s one of those things where it’s important and especially when we’re together.”

For this rural couple, it’s also important to raise their voices for the greater good whenever they can. And that’s exactly what Allen will do on December 16 when he performs at Hope for the Holidays – An Evening with Louis York & Friends benefit concert to help raise money for four local charities – the Alzheimer’s Association, Nashville Peacemakers, The Onsite Foundation and the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.
“I immediately said yes when I heard about the event,” notes Allen, who will also perform at the Unplugged for Tennessee Tornado Relief Benefit Concert Dec. 17 in Nashville with artists such as HARDY, Nate Smith and Alana Springsteen.
“This life is not just about us. There will come a time in your life when you hit a wall and ask yourself, ‘What have I done with all my time? What legacy have I left? Who have I helped and what impact have I made?’ So many people have come and gone in my life who have taught me the importance of that.”
Jay Allen loved his late mother so much — but regrets so much: ‘I wasted that time’
And while Allen’s days leading up to this year’s holidays are full of work, there’s a bit of sadness that comes with spending these special days without his late mother, who he lost to Alzheimer’s disease in 2019, by his side.
But things are starting to lighten up.
“I feel like I’ve entered this new healing season where my days seem better,” says Allen, who recently released a stunning rendition of the Christmas classic, “O Holy Night” with fellow country artist Allie Colleen. “Everyone has their own grieving process now. I feel that I can help other people deal with their feelings of loss and grief, especially during the holidays. I’m very proud of creating a safe place for people.”
And maybe, provide that same safe place for a few of your own children – eventually.
“Oh, Kylie isn’t here yet,” emphasizes Alen. “I’m a man in my 30s. I have all those feelings I got out of my system with my little nephew, who I’m finally going to see this week! Yes, Kylie isn’t here yet and everything is fine. Her mother says neither is she she didn’t have those feelings until she was thirty. So I’ll wait patiently whenever she’s ready.”
