When LIV Golf’s inaugural event in London took place opposite the RBC Canadian Open last year, Monahan took to the CBS broadcast to go on the offensive, supporting suspensions of players who switched to rival tours and asking, “How is this good for the game we love?”

He added that when someone suggested a change in leadership, there was applause in the room. According to one participant, it was “the liveliest matchup in PGA Tour history,” reported Golf Channel’s Amy Rogers.
