Jayaram Subramaniam, popularly known as Jayaram, is an Indian actor who works primarily in the South Indian film industry. He has received various awards for his performances in several Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.

Jayaram Subramaniam was born on Friday, December 10, 1965 in Perubhawal, Kerala (57 years; as of 2022). Jayaram grew up in Perumbavoor, a town in Kerala. He studied at Government Boys High School in Perumbavor. Later, Jayaram went to Sree Sankara College in Kaladi, Kerala, to pursue a bachelor’s degree in economics. According to sources, Jayaram worked as a medical representative after graduating from college. According to reports, Jayaram is pursuing postgraduate studies at the National Ursavam Institute of Science and Technology in Thrissur, Kerala.

- Apart from being a well-known actor, Jayaram Subramaniam is also a skilled percussionist, mimicry artist and farmer.
- Jayaram calls Padmarajan his guru.
- Jayaram is an avid animal lover, especially elephants.
- During an interview, it was revealed that Jayaram was very fond of animals since his childhood and as a child, he used to collect pictures of elephants while his friends were busy collecting matchboxes and labels. Recalling those moments from his childhood, Jayaram said:
As a child, while my classmates collected matchbox labels and stamps, I collected nearly 400 photos of elephants, including paper cutouts and black-and-white photos. ”
- According to some sources, Jayaram was invited as the chief guest to the Thrissur temple, where he was supposed to anoint an elephant named Padmanabhan as ‘Gajaraja’. After Jayam saw this elephant, he decided that it was his beloved elephant since he was a child. According to Jayaram, a few years later he was informed that the elephant had passed away; however, its tusks were legally transferred to him and Jayaram placed them in his living room as a memorial .
- According to sources, the first copy of Aalkoottathil Oranapokkam was given to Jayaram’s own elephant mahout; Jayaram’s elephants have appeared in many movies. Talking about his experience writing the book, Jayaram said:
People often ask me why I don’t write letters even though I am a relative of Malayan Thor Ramakrishnan. Of course, I always wanted to write, but not to attempt any great literature.
