Gene Cullivan Trebek

Jean Currivan Trebek was an entrepreneur and blogger who was best known for being the wife of Canadian-American game show host Alex Trebek, who died on November 8, 2020.

Wiki/Biography

Jean Currivan Trebek was born on Sunday, September 8, 1963 (57 years old in 2020) in Greenlawn, New York. She grew up on the East Coast of Long Island along with her siblings. Jean’s older brother, Chris Currivan, was born with hydrocephalus, a disease where excess fluid puts pressure on the brain, and he had developmental delays as a result. During childhood, Jean was a responsible child who took care of her younger brother. In an interview, she said,

We went to school together, and I promised my parents that I would take care of him. Sometimes I would even leave the classroom to see him. I took care of my brother, and it felt like a gift rather than a burden. Other kids might have hated this responsibility. I saw it as a blessing.”

She attended Haberfield High School in Greenlawn and later attended Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California. She worked as a real estate project manager on Long Island before moving to Los Angeles. After completing her formal education, she took a part-time bookkeeper job for a business executive friend of Alex Trebek. In an interview, she said,

“Alex was a good friend of my boss’s. He’d come over every Saturday to play backgammon and have lunch. I knew he was on some TV shows, but he never revealed much and I didn’t ask.”
