Jeannie Mai Reveals What Raid the Cage Prizes She Suggested That Caused Producers to Ignore Her Emails (Exclusive)

Jeannie Mai isn’t shy about giving her opinion when it comes to the rewards in her new game, Attack on the cage.

Speed is the name of the game on the CBS series. Two teams compete to grab the prizes from the cage before time runs out. More seconds are added when contestants answer trivia questions correctly, allowing them to collect more coveted prizes, from exciting trips to luxury items. The team with the highest total dollar value wins the game, along with their chosen items and a chance to win a bigger prize.

The 44-year-old television host tells PEOPLE exclusively that she “definitely put in my request for more Birkins and I want more shoes because every woman needs a good pair of Louboutins, Jimmy Choos [and] Alexander McQueens.”

“I think the producers stopped answering my emails after I sent so many requests because I don’t hear from them anymore,” she jokes.

Mai — who is the co-host Attack on the cage with actor and comedian Damon Wayans Jr. — also shares the awards she would choose as a contestant on the show.

“My first choice would be travel. I am a big traveler. I would face any challenge to have these great trips,” she says. “And my second would be I like all fashion. I would take the dolls because people didn’t realize that the dolls were stacked head to toe in amazing luxury brands. And then, apparently, the mystery boxes.”

She adds, “Always, always get out of the cage with the mystery box. If Coco Chanel told you to take one thing off before leaving the house, that’s one thing we’d add before leaving the cage.”

RAID THE CAGE airs Fridays (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and is streaming on Paramount+.

When it comes to her strategy on the show, Mai believes she would be a “catchball”.

“I would look for anything that I can just stack and stack things on. That would be my number one goal to build it up,” she explains. “I’d be careful not to pile things on top of each other. I’d wear pants with lots of pockets.”

“I would be very smart if I was done with the challenges because the challenges in our cage are what actually collect the prize money,” she adds. “And I’d lead everyone to the door and then shove everyone out one more time before the buzzer sounded.”

After all, Mai admits that she would do whatever it takes when it comes to attacking the cage.

“I’m that person who refuses to travel more than necessary to bring groceries into the house,” she says. “I’ll put things in my mouth and around my neck, I use all the armpits, all the crevices, I use everything. So I definitely think I have a bad tactic when it comes to attacking that cage.”

Although she won’t actually be competing, the television personality has some practical tips for winning the show.

“When it comes to actually searching the cage, I think it’s important to make sure you don’t have lotion on your hands. You want to have a nice, firm grip on things,” she says.

“I think you have to be careful. Don’t grab things that are heavy and useless,” continues Mai. “We had a Roomba at one point, and as much as I love cleaning your house, this big round thing that you can’t fit under your armpits isn’t going to help. So I’d leave it at that and replace it with a good old fashioned challenge where you can grab tickets to Antigua or maybe redecorate your backyard.”

“So I definitely think strategy alone is the most important way to win a cage attack,” she adds.
