More Jelly Rolls are on the way!
On Friday, August 23, the country star (whose real name is Jason DeFord) announced his new album Beautifully broken — ahead of an upcoming headlining tour of the same name — and shared his latest single, “Get By.”
Jelly’s upcoming album will feature singles like “I Am Not Okay” and “Liar,” as well as the rousing “Get By,” which was recently chosen by ESPN as the anthem for the 2024 college football season.

On the 39-year-old singer/songwriter’s new single “Get By,” Jelly sings about overcoming life’s obstacles — and getting back on your feet when you fall.” I burn every bridge I see, yeah, just to watch it burn / If you saw all the hell that I am I saw, your stomach would turn / I think you know / Why I do what I do when I do, mm,” he sings on the gospel-tinged track.

Ahead of his album announcement, the “Save Me” artist spoke with The New York Times Magazine about the intention he sets when playing music.
“I look for songs that have a purpose,” Jelly told the paper. “When I start releasing a song under the name Jelly Roll, I think to myself, Why?”

He continued: “Because for the first time in my life, it has nothing to do with a financial decision. I’ve come a long way from investing anything for money. So now, that’s really why.”
Jelly then elaborated on his song “Winning Streak,” which is on Beautifully broken. “I wrote from the perspective of a story that I saw actually happening,” he said of the song.
He also talked about his relationship with drugs and how, despite being off hard drugs, he still attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
“Something I do to maintain my relationship with these drugs is I still go to meetings, but I never share,” the “Son of a Sinner” performer said. “I just sit quietly and appreciate the message and the meaning.”

Jelly added: “This is the first time I’ve talked about this publicly. I don’t tell people I’m going to meetings. So I just sit and watch and this kid goes through it. You see. One of the old men sitting there said, ‘ It’s all good, nobody came on a winning streak.'”
That comment, he said, informed the song.
Beautifully broken is due for release on October 11th via BBR Music Group/Republic Records.
