Jenna Dewan and Steve Kazee’s Real-Life Love Transforms into a Chilling Obsession in New Lifetime Thriller (Exclusive)

What happens when someone becomes the object of obsession of not only a stalker but two? In Lifetime’s new thriller The devil on my doorstep a social media influencer named Natasha Wallace, played by Jenna Dewan, finds out for herself.

When Chloe (Lyndon Smith), a delivery man at a local delivery company, notices that one of the delivery drivers, Theo (Steve Kazee), is stealing Natasha’s packages just so he can meet her, Chloe decides to get closer to Natasha as well. But in the process, Chloe develops a “full-on obsession” with the influencer, according to the film’s press release.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the film’s trailer, Natasha walks into, presumably, her home.

“This is the beginning of a new era,” says Sloan (Rachel Lindsay). “You are the author. You just reached one million followers. It’s just the beginning.”

Meanwhile, Chloe starts researching Natasha on the internet and actually falls down a rabbit hole. In the next scene, she browses a bookstore, looking for her new favorite influencer book.

“I can’t believe I wrote it a book,” Natasha says in front of the bathroom mirror, as Sloan gives her a pep talk, saying, “Remember, diamonds are forged in fire. Don’t forget that.”

In another scene, Natasha formally meets Chloe, posing as a neighbor’s babysitter. She quickly hugs Chloe like a new friend over a glass of wine.

But just as quickly as the teaser set Natasha up for success, he quickly pulls the rug out, introducing a darker tone. Moving on to another bookstore, Chloe catches Theo peering through a bookshelf at Natasha, who is reading her new book.

“I have this acquaintance and I think something bad is coming,” Chloe predicts.

In the next scene, Natasha confesses to Chloe that she is going on a date. But when she opens the door, the date turns out to be Theo.

“This is going to sound crazy, but I think he’s dangerous,” Chloe later warns Sloan.

“He is, or your are they?” Sloan shoots back.

In a montage of brief, tense scenes, Sloan accuses Chloe of having “something wrong” with her. Natasha, meanwhile, accuses Theo of being “crazy” before the teaser shows the influencer screaming behind the wheel of her car, with Theo shoving his hand through the front door of Natasha’s home. The cast’s names flash across the screen in rapid succession, before the teaser cuts to another scene where Theo angrily points a finger at his face, threatening Chloe.

“Stay away from her or I’ll take care of it,” he says before the film’s title dramatically appears on the screen.

Life thriller marks another collaboration for Dewan and Kazee, who first met in 2012 and announced their engagement in February 2020. In May 2022, the couple shared a special moment during an episode of the CBS reality competition series, Come dance with mewhere the Dewan served as a judge. Kazee appeared on the show and performed “Falling Slowly” from the musical Once, with Dewan also participating in the number.

The devil on my doorstep allowed Dewan and Kazee to pull double duty, serving as executive producers and stars of the film. Executive producer Kyle McNally said Jenna was “absolutely thrilled” to work with her real-life fiancé “both in front of and behind the camera.”
