Despite being a longtime eBay user, Lyons struggles when it comes to consigning her own pieces. “It’s hard to let go,” Lyons tells PEOPLE. “I’m like a baby when it comes to all these things. So much is tied to memories and moments in your life.”

What motivated her to part with her beloved bags was that eBay donates all proceeds to Doctors Without Borders. “It’s the holidays and I’m so happy, so it felt like the right thing to do.” (Note: If you’re not in LA or Las Vegas, you can still buy some of Lyons’ collection via auction at ebay.com/JennaLyons.)

And while the bags she’s giving away hold a special place in her heart (the red Luggage bag is the first Celine bag she’s ever bought, and the YSL was purchased during an “incredibly fun” trip to Paris), Lyons says she made the decision based on the last time she really carried bags.

Not everything in her closet is up for grabs, though. She has a list of pieces she’ll never part with, starting with the feather skirt she wore to Solange Knowles’ 2020 wedding.

“I’ve been hit more times than I can count to get rid of it. That will never happen,” says Lyons.

There is also a pair of Prada heels that, although she never wears them, retain a permanent place on her shelf. “They have these huge jewels on them and every time I walk into my closet, they make me happy.”

And from his J.Crew days, he has a “showstopper” multicolored sequined jacket. “We only made two because it was very expensive. And so it feels really special to me.”

“I’m shocked and amazed at the attention it’s gotten,” she told PEOPLE of the buzz her appearance has generated. “I didn’t know it would be so controversial, it wasn’t intentional. I’m also like, first of all, who cares? And secondly, this idea that I couldn’t wear them to a reunion or that I was somehow a failure — who made the rules? Does anyone really want me to step out in a full length sparkly dress? Really? I don’t think that’s what you want from me.”
