Jenna Ortega Honors Lydia Deetz's Style for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Press — and We're Shake, Shake, Shaken Up!

As Jenna Ortega does for the press Beetlejuice Beetlejuiceshe dresses with a method strange and unusual levels.

The actress, who plays Winona Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz’s daughter Astrid in the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 film, stepped out in New York City on August 19 in a custom Thom Browne cut that channeled the OG film’s memorable final scene.

Ortega was dressed in a sweater emblazoned with Deetz’s school emblem (Ryder wore a blazer with almost identical trim in her scene), a plaid skirt popular with Deetz’s, plus two-tone Mary Janes.

In a scene with her dead BFF Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis), Lydia says she got an A in math but a A in chemistry because she refused to dissect a frog, before dancing to Harry’s “Jump in the Belafonte Red” in front of the deceased football team.

The star, who also channeled the film in a sculptural teal leather dress, recently shared on Today show that as a child she was afraid of Tim Burton’s film.

Fortunately, over time Ortega realized “that excitement is the same as fear” and when he was given the opportunity to partner with Wednesday headmistress, she took advantage of the opportunity.

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice arrives in theaters on September 6, and also stars the mainstays, Michael Keaton himself, as well as cast member Catherine O’Hara, along with newcomers Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.

But first, the film will open the Venice Film Festival in August.
