Jennifer Cafarella Career

The Institute for the Study of War’s first National Security Fellow (ISW), Jennifer serves as both the Institute’s chief of staff and ISW. Her study primarily focuses on US defence strategy, namely how the nation must adjust to both present and emerging threats, with an emphasis on Syria, jihadism, and the Middle East.

She has received fellowships from the National Security Institute at George Mason University and the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization at King’s College in London. Ms. Cafarella often briefs military units in the US and its allies as well as senior lawmakers and decision-makers.

Her writing has been included in Foreign Affairs Magazine, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and other top publications. Additionally, Ms. Cafarella is in charge of ISW’s simulation exercises and efforts to develop detailed recommendations on how to accomplish US objectives abroad.
