A ballad about songbirds and snakes follows teenager Coriolanus Snow (played by Sutherland, 88, in the original series and in the new Tom Blyth film), who ends up becoming the tyrannical president of the dystopian nation of Panem and the show’s main villain.

Director Francis Lawrence recently said Empire that Zegler’s character, District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird, is the “anti-Katniss” in many ways.

“Katniss was an introvert and a survivor. She was quite quiet and stoic, you could say [she was] asexual,” said the director. “Lucy Gray is the opposite. Wear your sexuality on your sleeve, [and] she really is a performer.”
