“I was blown away by the writing,” Paulson told Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek on Broadway play last month, when we talked about what inspired her return to the stage. “And I just thought, ‘If I’m going to do a play, it has to be comparable to something else that I could traditionally do that would be interesting enough because the commitment is different than doing film or television.’ ”
She continued: “I wanted it to be something that I felt could be consistently compelling and something that you constantly have to work on. It’s not just coming in and trying to make a Xerox copy of what you did the night before. That’s really exciting for me. And also exciting for me as an actor, I hope I am, that I wasn’t the last time I was on stage. I hope it will inspire deeper, richer, better work.”
Appropriate plays for a limited run on Broadway through March 3, 2024. Tickets are on sale now.
