Jennifer Lawrence Looks Radiant in $10K Red Coat at the Broadway Premiere of Appropriate

Jennifer Lawrence brought some outrageous outerwear to the red carpet on Monday.

The Oscar winner dressed for the chilly New York weather in a luxurious red coat as he attended the opening of Second Stage Theater on Broadway, Appropriate.

The garment – a collarless double-breasted cashmere coat with padded shoulders and two front pockets – comes from The Row, the luxury fashion label founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Made in Italy, it retails for $9,990.

Photographers snapped Lawrence as she posed in front of the step-and-repeat outside the Hayes Theater. Under the jacket she wore a flowing black silk slip dress with a plunging neckline. The actress completed her look with black kitten heels and gold earrings.

The play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Branden Jacobs-Jenkins follows a trio of siblings who return to their father’s house in Arkansas to deal with the remains of his estate after his death. “Suddenly, long-hidden secrets and buried grudges cannot be contained, and the family is forced to face the ghosts of their past,” reads the play’s long text.

Sarah Paulson leads an all-star cast that includes Corey Stoll, Michael Esper and Ella Fanning, making her Broadway debut. Graham Campbell, Lincoln Cohen, Natalie Gold, Alyssa Emily Marvin and Everett Sobers also star.

Appropriate directed by Lila Neugebauer, who directed the film Lawrence 2022, Mostic. The two posed together on the red carpet on Monday night.

Paulson’s girlfriend Holland Taylor was also there, as was Paulson’s Zachary Quinto American Horror Story costar. Colton Ryan, who starred opposite Fanning The girl from Plainvillealso attended.

Appropriate marks Paulson’s first return to Broadway in 13 years. The last time he won an Emmy was in 2010 Collected stories. It also appeared in 2005 Glass menagerie and Sisters Rosensweig in 1993.

“I was blown away by the writing,” Paulson told Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek on Broadway play last month, when we talked about what inspired her return to the stage. “And I just thought, ‘If I’m going to do a play, it has to be comparable to something else that I could traditionally do that would be interesting enough because the commitment is different than doing film or television.’ ”

She continued: “I wanted it to be something that I felt could be consistently compelling and something that you constantly have to work on. It’s not just coming in and trying to make a Xerox copy of what you did the night before. That’s really exciting for me. And also exciting for me as an actor, I hope I am, that I wasn’t the last time I was on stage. I hope it will inspire deeper, richer, better work.”

Appropriate plays for a limited run on Broadway through March 3, 2024. Tickets are on sale now.
