Jennifer Lopez is the queen of weddings, and if Hollywood had a lifetime achievement award (and it should) for a celebrity who has made an outstanding contribution to on-screen wedding dressing, the honor would go to her (which would go to Sarah Jessica Parker, who should win for Best Wedding Dress Upcycle).
From her first film, Selena, 1997 to her latest film, A shotgun wedding, in 2022, the superstar, 54, has a range of bridal looks that include everything from a simple lace look to an elaborate ball gown.
Then, on Wednesday, the singer and actress, who wore five dresses to her two real-life weddings to Ben Affleck, including three custom Ralph Lauren gowns, took her wedding dress from the big screen to all screens when she released her latest single, “Can ‘t Get Enough” with accompanying music video.
Every time Jennifer Lopez played a bride on screen
In the clip, she “marries” a string of groomsmen in two different dresses – FROLOV’s white skin-baring design with two large heart-shaped cutouts that reveal her abs and upper thighs, and a strapless short dress adorned with a rose-red cluster at the waist. With her latest opus, Lopez’s on-screen wedding dress count is officially 10 (and counting, because the girl can’t stop).
To celebrate her 26-year dedication to on-screen bridal wear, we’ve picked four fictional “JLo the Bride” looks we love the most.
1. Wedding planner, 2001

“As style editor at PEOPLE for the past decade, I have an encyclopedic knowledge of JLo’s wedding dress rolodex. (Seriously, I should consider adding it to my resume.) And while her wedding to Ben Affleck in Georgia in August 2022 was a veritable bridal fashion fairy tale courtesy of Ralph Lauren, there’s one moment of the Lopez wedding that lives free in my head : her look at the courthouse Wedding planner. The whole vibe is very simple – even against JLo – from the clean silhouette of the design to her minimalist glamor and retro headgear. Besides, the movie from 2001 makes me feel nostalgic. (I remember seeing it with my friends in eighth grade after shopping at the mall. We even smuggled Auntie Anne’s pretzels into the theater!) I still believe Meghan Markle had this dress on her bridal board. I also believe that Mary Fiore should have married Massimo. — Brittany Talarico, Deputy Style Director:

2. Marry me in 2022
Everett
“Confession: I haven’t seen this movie, but if I was going to give it a Netflix night, it would be so I could watch JLo’s elaborate Zuhair Murad Couture wedding dress in all its glory. The strapless creation, which weighed more than a golden retriever (95 pounds to be exact) and required five people to transport, was made of nine layers of silk taffeta, horsehair and tulle, then covered in sparkling crystals, silver ruffles, embroidery and lace , and the veil was equally decorated with crystals and sequins. Basically, it’s a Stefon nightclub in wedding dress form.” — Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director
3. El Cantante, 2006

“Everything about Lopez’s 1960s wedding look in her 2006 film is perfect: the lace detailing on her empire-waist gown, the knee-length veil, the dreamy blue eyeshadow. Perhaps the extra shine came from starring alongside then-husband Marc Anthony as the real-life couple Héctor and Nilda ‘Puchi’ Lavoe.” — Kate Hogan, Director of Special Projects
4. I can’t get enough, 2023

“In her new song ‘Can’t Get Enough,’ Lopez sings, ‘When it’s good, nothing else matters.'” Sure, she’s talking about love. But that’s how I feel about the second wedding dress JLO is wearing as she walks down the aisle to her reception with her husband (ahem, Derek Hough) Jenny from Style Block. Jennifer and dancing go hand in hand, and this strapless bustier style with a billowing skirt allows her to do just that. Plus, this look gets extra points for being so in this moment with the red rosette and thanks to her white tights.”— Jackie Fields, Deputy Beauty Director
