Jennifer Love Hewitt Reveals She Went Through ‘a Lot No One Knew About’ in 2023: ‘Grateful for That Privacy’

Jennifer Love Hewitt talks about her eventful year.

The 9-1-1 star, 44, shared a selfie on Instagram on Sunday and was candid about the ups and downs she’s experienced over the past 12 months.

“I passed this year [sic] a lot that no one knew about,” the actress began, noting that she was “grateful for that privacy.”

“The best thing for me was being a mom at home with my children,” she wrote. “I learned to be a better baker. I learned that it’s okay to take time for myself mentally, physically and emotionally. I prayed and manifested a lot. My belly laughed more than ever. I had the longest cold of my life. I was forced to have more faith than usual.”

She went on to say that she “learned to love exercise as a benefit to my mental health” and “took risks on myself and my bigger dreams.”

Hewitt also said that she “sat deeper in grief and was able to let go more. I felt mom around us and saw signs that she was. I said goodbye to things that do not serve positivity in my life and made room for a lot of good things in 2024.”

The I know what you did last summer the actress also noted that celebrating “10 years with my guy” — husband Brian Hallisay — she “got a tattoo” and “really let him teach me everything I needed to learn.”

“And so here I am. Happy, blessed, grateful and filled with hope,” she wrote. “I will pray that our world gets better this year and that everyone sees less pain, fear and heartbreak. Love to all and Happy New Year!”

Also this year, Hewitt, who shot to fame as a child actor, hit the headlines for getting real about aging in the spotlight – which she spoke out about after taking to social media to claim she looks “unrecognisable”.

During the performance at In you with Michael Rosenbaum earlier this month, the actress shot down claims that surfaced after she debuted a dark bob to her Instagram followers this fall.

“Getting old in Hollywood is really hard. It’s really hard because you can’t do anything right,” Hewitt told the podcast’s host, Michael Rosenbaum.

After posting a photo debuting her new ‘doc’, Hewitt said “a bunch of people said ‘Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable'” and others accused her of using filters “because she doesn’t want us to know how bad it is he actually looks in his 40s now.”

“And I thought, ‘This is crazy, right?'” she recalled to Rosenbaum.

To poke fun at her online haters, Hewitt said she posted more photos, this time with “exaggerated, crazy” filters on – and was met with even more heat.

“I was like, ‘All natural, no filter,’ like I was trying to make fun of it, and then they attacked me for it and they said, ‘Well, now he’s just defending himself,'” she said. “And I realized: ‘I can’t do anything right.'”

The Criminal minds the actress also acknowledged the kindness people show her, but said she can’t help but pay attention to those who make negative comments about her appearance because of her daughter, Autumn. (She shares Autumn, 10, with Hallisay, as well as sons Atticus, 8, and Aidan, 2.)

“The only reason these people bother me” is because “I’m the mother of a little girl,” she said.

“What we put on people is dangerous. It’s dangerous, I think, to tell women, ‘You can’t look like you’re not 22 anymore because I don’t know how to accept that,'” she said.

“Because I’m 44 years old and I look like this,” she added.
