Jennifer Nettles Says She’d ‘Love’ to Record an Acoustic Album: ‘Waiting on the Right Time’

When you have Jennifer Nettles’ voice and a guitar, what else do you need?

During an interview on Tuesday’s episode Today with Hoda and Jennathe Sugarland musician and recent Emmy winner has expressed interest in recording an acoustic album.

“I’d love an acoustic album. I’d love to do it,” said Nettles, 49. “I’ve been thinking about it for a while and I’m waiting for the right time, because it would mean so much to me, to lay things bare.”

She referred to one of Sugarland’s singles from 2006 Enjoy the ride album as a precursor to a potential acoustic project. “When you think of ‘Stay,’ for example, that’s all there was — guitar and vocals,” the country star explained. – I think there is a lot of real soul in it.

Elsewhere in Nettles Today in the interview, she talked about the current “momentum” of her career and upcoming projects, such as a role in the Prime Video series Obligor along with Kevin Bacon and a developing Broadway musical about Italian professional poisoner Giulia Tofani.

“I feel that momentum and that energy in my career and in my life — and especially when you decide to have a family, the pace changes a little bit and you make different decisions about where you want to spend your time,” said Nettles, who shares one child (son Magnus Hamilton , 11) with Justin Miller. “As our children grow up, we look at it and ask, where do I want to be now?”

Ahead of her 50th birthday in September, she revealed how she feels about the current stage of her life. “I feel great, I feel blessed. I like to say that health is wealth, and it’s interesting that as we get older we start to focus on it in a different way,” added Nettles. “I feel like we’re all reaching a different step, a new step. I feel weird too, like the number doesn’t match what I’m feeling.”
