Danger! contestant Drew Goins may have angered a few Taylor Swift fans, but it didn’t take him long to crush bad blood — and fix his reputation!
The Hawaii-based journalist, a fan-favorite contestant who first appeared on the show last September, is back in Danger! this month in the second (and final) week of the second chance tournament. Like his competitors, he wanted to win, but he also had another mission: to redeem himself in the eyes of Swift’s fans.
During his first ever Danger! appearing on September 25, 2024, Goins made waves among fans of the pop superstar after failing to find the correct answer to the clue about one of her albums.

After a Grammy-themed question category revealed an $800 plate that read, “Taylor Swift’s first record 4 [album of the year] The Grammy was for this album in 2010,” Goins was stunned to say the least.
In a snapshot of the moment shared on the official page Danger! On his Instagram profile, the fan favorite contestant looked confused and disappointed after not giving the correct answer, Fearlessinstead of shaking his head back and forth.
After failing to answer a Swift-related clue and narrowly losing overall, Goins said goodbye to both Danger! and his chance to prove himself to the Swifties has been a disappointment – until now, that is.

In his first appearance on the Second Chance Tournament, which was taped last year but aired on January 6, host Ken Jennings addressed Fearless slip, asking Goins about “running into some angry Swifties” he had last fall.
“I asked the wrong question about Taylor Swift, I went home worried that the Swifties were going to come rip me out of bed one night, but it turns out the angry Swiftie was my brother, who’s here today,” the returning contestant replied.
When his brother Zach heard he was coming back to the show, he had a reporter look up his Swift history, Goins explained to Jennings. “The night before the shoot, he made a whole practice record for me,” he said, adding that the information on the record was a little skewed: “It was totally Taylor Swift.”

Visibly excited about his chance at redemption among the pop star’s fans — and the fact that he knew the answer — Goins called and shouted his answer: “What in 1989?”
“Redemption for Drew! That’s right,” Jennings replied. “And the crowd goes wild.”
