Jessica Mendoza began her career as a first-team All-American and All-Pac-10 selection in 1999. She, on the other hand, became a sensation as the conference’s Newcomer of the Year. She ended up hitting and breaking Cardinal records for batting average and RBI totals, eventually ranking in the top 10 in hits. Similarly, she was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week.
In her sophomore season, she was again named to the NCAA Division I and Pac-10 First Teams. Moving on, she was named conference player of the year, advancing to the NCAA tournament.
