Jill Duggar Says Family Is Safe After Tornado 'Ripped Through' Their Area: 'Missed Us by a Few Miles'

Jill Duggar Dillard is feeling grateful after a close shave.

The reality star, 33, confirmed in a post on her Instagram Stories on May 26 that she and her family are safe after their area was hit by tornadoes and storms that wreaked havoc in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Texas over the Memorial Day weekend .

“Like most other people in our NW Arkansas/NW Oklahoma area, we were up most of the night as the tornadoes ripped through our area,” Dillard wrote. “Fortunately, we are fine, but friends and part of the family were not so lucky. We pray for those affected.”

The former TLC star added that the tornadoes “missed us by a few miles.”

At least 19 people, including four children, died in the stormy tornado, reports CNN. Around 100 people were also injured and many houses were destroyed and power was cut in the affected areas.

Eight storm-related deaths were reported in Arkansas, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed at a May 26 news conference. Seven storm-related deaths were also reported in Texas, two in Oklahoma and two in Kentucky, NBC News reported.

Dillard’s social media update comes after she revealed her pregnancy loss last month.

Jill announced in a joint Instagram post with her husband, Derick Dillard, that she gave birth to their fourth child, stillborn, on April 13.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard,” the couple wrote. “Jill was 4 months pregnant (she was born in August) when we found out our baby had died in utero.”

“From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our child,” they continued. “Isla was loved from the start and her 3 older brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world.”

“We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie. 😭🩷,” the couple added.

Jill and Derrick also have sons Israel David, 9, Samuel Scott, 6, and Frederick “Freddy” Michael, 22 months.
