Jill Ellen Stein was born into a Jewish family of Russian descent. Joseph and Gladys Stein gave birth to her. On May 14, 1950, she was born in Chicago, Illinois, America’s third most populous city. She has now declared herself an Agnostic.
Stein was interested in higher education since she was a teenager, and she graduated with Latin Honors from Harvard College in 1973. Anthropology, Sociology, and Psychology were her major subjects. In 1979, she graduated from Harvard Medical College and relocated to the Boston area, where she worked as a medical instructor at Simmons College Health Center and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Center.
