Jim Jordan News

Rep. Jim Jordan hasn’t had the best of luck in his fight against government “weaponization,” despite his best efforts. For instance, the Ohio Republican recently cited FBI “whistleblowers” who weren’t actually whistleblowers and who provided testimony from behind the scenes that were utterly implausible.

Please explain what this has to do with Jordan. It turns out that two FBI agents, Marcus Allen and Stephen Friend, are testifying before the House Judiciary Committee’s panel on government “weaponization” this morning.

Two of the agents who had their security clearances revoked due to alleged wrongdoing were Allen and Friend. They have also reportedly been suspended by the FBI while the FBI investigates their cases, according to the Times’ report, which neither MSNBC nor NBC News has independently confirmed.

The FBI found that a third agent, Brett Gloss, breached the law on January 6 when he entered a restricted section of the Capitol grounds while marching with the pro-Trump crowd. He was given the same sentence. Investigators came to the conclusion that Gloss gave “false and/or misleading information” regarding what he witnessed on the day of the insurgent attack.

Regarding Jordan’s witnesses, Allen was discovered to have “expressed sympathy for persons or organisations that advocate, threaten, or use force or violence,” propagated conspiracies regarding the violence on January 6, and deceived a colleague regarding a suspect from that day.

Friend, on the other hand, appears to have received punishment for refusing to assist in the arrest of a suspect on January 6. Bureau investigators came to the conclusion that Friend “presented a number of security concerns related to his personal conduct, handling of protected information, and ‘use of information technology,’” the Washington Post reported.

These are some of the people Jordan refers to when he talks about his FBI “whistleblowers” who are eager to support his conspiracy theories about the government mistreating impoverished conservative victims.

The struggling committee chairman claimed Thursday morning that the fact that at least some of his purported “whistleblowers” had also benefited financially from a key Trump ally shouldn’t cast doubt on their objectivity.

Of course not, never. Forbidden by God. According to a GOP aide quoted in a Politico article from last month, Republicans on Capitol Hill concur that Jordan’s “weaponization” subcommittee is off to a “rocky start.”
