Jimmy Fallon Reminisces About His Parents’ Sweet (and Tasty!) Traditions on His 49th Birthday: ‘Lucky Kid’

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host celebrated his 49th birthday on Tuesday with a nostalgic look back at all his previous birthdays.

Fallon shared a childhood memory on Instagram, showing him blowing out the candles on his white and blue ice cream cake for his seventh birthday. The photo shows 7-year-old Fallon in a white and orange baseball shirt.

Fallon paid tribute to his parents, Gloria and James Sr., in an Instagram caption. “For as long as I can remember, my parents have always given me an ice cream cake for my birthday. Happy child. Keeping ice cream sundaes in business since 1974. (Thanks everyone for the birthday love.) #49,” Fallon wrote.

Friends and followers responded to Saturday night live alum post, wishing him a happy birthday.

Andy Cohen commented “Happy birthday, funny stunner!” While fellow comedians, Amy Sedaris and Ego Nwodim wrote “HB!!!” i.e. “Happy Birthday!!!”. Music producer Mark Ronson commented: “Happy birthday ❤️.”

Along with warm wishes from friends and family in his comments section, Fallon received birthday messages from Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, John Oliver and Jimmy Kimmel, his new podcast co-hosts. Strike Group Five.

The Instagram post was a 55-second reel, in which Fallon recalls a red carpet memory for her co-hosts. Official Strike Group Five the account captioned the reel with “Happy Birthday to our friend @JimmyFallon! 👍🤣.”

In the video, Fallon shared with his fellow late-night talk show hosts that he was made fun of because of the appearance of his thumbs.

Fallon explained that he was on the red carpet and the photographers asked him to pose with a thumbs up, but it wasn’t something he did often. “I say, ‘I’m not really giving a thumbs up.’ [They said] ‘Come on, man, just give us a thumbs up,’ he said. “So I say ‘Okay’. I give it a thumbs up and it’s published. It’s in New York Post and says ‘Jimmy Fallon gives a weird thumbs up’. ”

In August, Fallon and his co-hosts launched the podcast Strike Group Fivewhere they “navigate the Hollywood strikes and beyond.”

Their recent venture came as a result of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike that began in May. The podcast features hosts discussing the intricacies of their hiatus with a comedic flair. The hosts donate the income from the podcast to unemployed staff The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
