Jimmy Kimmel Reveals Which Ken He’d Be in Barbie — and It’s Not ‘a Beach Ken’ (Exclusive)

When it comes to his place in the hypothetical pantheon of Kens in Barbieland, Jimmy Kimmel’s aspirations are hardly exaggerated.

In fact, they are barely Kenough.

“Which Ken am I? Oh, rapidly balding Ken,” he tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

Okay, but maybe with a hint of the great “Kenmaid,” played by John Cena in Barbie, or a slice of Ryan Gosling’s beach-loving Ken?

“No, not Beach Ken. Just Rapidly Balding Ken,” he deadpanned.

Jimmy Kimmel feels ‘like the Kansas City Chiefs’ as he prepares to host the Oscars for a fourth time (Exclusive)

Luckily, Kimmel has a regular job, and on March 10, he’ll be hosting the Academy Awards for the fourth time (the 96th Academy Awards will air on ABC at 7 p.m. EST).

“We work very hard to make the show as good as it can be,” says the 56-year-old Emmy-winning comedian, who is as enthusiastic about hosting as ever.

“I feel like Kansas City bosses going to this Oscars—like you’ve been there before, but it doesn’t make a difference. It’s still exciting and you still have to be good!”

Kimmel also credits his wife, Molly McNearney, who returns as co-executive producer of the series, and the rest of their well-oiled creative team, for what he predicts will be a “fun” night.

Barbie, which has eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Gosling, should serve up plenty of material fodder over the course of the series. According to sources, Gosling will sing “I’m Just Ken,” one of two nominated songs from the film.

“We have something good Barbie stuff in the store,” Kimmel teases. “Hopefully Barbie has the same effect on the Oscars that Taylor Swift had on the Super Bowl.”

Until then, and right up to showtime, Kimmel will be honing his monologue and turning timely material into comedy gold. “We have a fun show planned,” he says. “We’ve got really great movies and great actors and performers… It’s tough, but I think we’ve got it as far as you can get!”
