Joan Collins’ Mailman ‘Constantly’ Delivered Her Letters to Neighbor Lily Collins When They Lived in Same L.A. Building

Joan Collins and Lily Collins suffered a case of mistaken identity!

In his new memoir, Behind the shoulder padsJoan, 90, recalled how her and Lily’s mail would often be mixed up by their postman when they were neighbors in Los Angeles.

The two stars eventually met at the 2019 Met Gala, where they laughed about their shared last name and their postman who “constantly” delivers mail to the wrong person, Joan described in her memoir.

“Lily Collins and I used to laugh about the days when we lived in the same building in LA, where the postman kept misdirecting our mail to the wrong Collins,” he wrote. Dynasty star and film legend.

Their last names are not the only thing similar about them. The theme of the Met Gala that year was “camp” and the two actresses opted for strikingly similar ornate white ensembles.

Joan channeled her celebrity Dynasty alter ego, Alexis Colby, with giant shoulder pads in a custom Valentine design. In the meantime it is Emily in Paris star, now 34, recreated Priscilla Presley’s miniature wedding dress at Giambattista Valli Haute Couture.

Both women accessorized their looks with sparkly headpieces.

In her new biography, Joan also revealed the less glamorous side of the annual fashion fundraiser she organizes Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

“It was like standing in line at [U.K. supermarket] Waitrose check out at lunchtime, except we were surrounded by people like Kim [Kardashian] and Kanye West and Harry Styles in a black embroidered chiffon blouse with a huge kitten bow,” she wrote of waiting in line to appear on the red carpet.

The star also shared the other famous faces she met that night, including her meeting with Jennifer Lopez, where they shared LA restaurant tips and congratulated tennis champion Serena Williams on becoming a mom.

Joan – who is married to actor Percy Gibson – also recalled seeing Bette Midler dancing with legendary singer Cher alongside Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Holmes.

Reflecting on the spectacle, Joan wrote: “What an experience it was. I loved my first Met Ball and would definitely go again in a heartbeat – although at $30,000 a seat, I’ll wait to be invited!”
