Jodie Sweetin Reveals the Item She Tried to Steal from Fuller House Set After John Stamos Took Iconic Sofa (Exclusive)

Looks like John Stamos wasn’t the only one Fuller House dear member with sticky fingers.

Jodie Sweetin tells PEOPLE that, like her sitcom uncle, she tried to get away with the iconic — and clunky — piece from the show’s set after it ended.

Back in 2020, Stamos revealed this after Netflix Full house reboot ended, he was able to take home the blue and white checkered sofa that served as the centerpiece of the Tanner family’s living room in both the original series and Fuller House.

Sweetin, however, says it’s not Enough so ambitious that she tries to sneak an entire piece of furniture off the set, telling her own story as she talks to PEOPLE about her partnership with OLLY at school.

“I took the head of that weird little statue that was standing at the bottom of the stairs,” says the 42-year-old, who played Tanner’s middle child Stephanie. “I tried to take the whole thing in, but it was quite awkward at the end of the show, and it’s hard to get out of there without anyone noticing that I’m carrying a huge statue.”

So, Sweetin explains, she settled on just the head of the wooden statue — known as “Sea Pappy” — that appeared in both shows. But that didn’t go unnoticed either.

“They pulled me over with my head in the car,” Sweetin says. “And they said, ‘You can’t take it until we make a list.’ So I tried to steal Sea Pappy’s head, basically.”

Undeterred, Sweetin says she put a post-it note on the top hat leg, claiming it as hers.

“And then one day, a few weeks later, my doorbell rang,” she continues. “I opened it and there was no one there, just Sea Pappy’s head. It was the best moment.”

Sweetin previously showed off her trophy during a 2021 appearance on the late Bob Saget’s podcast, Bob Saget is here for you. “Sea Pappy’s head was a mission,” she told Saget, who played her father Danny Tanner Full house. “That was an important thing.”

“This is the Sea Pappy they recreated,” she explained. “It was actually made out of Styrofoam because they had one that was a joke — whatever. Well, they taped his head and left him there. So it’s not wooden, it’s just a styrofoam replica.”

“I would help you take the whole thing. I was there,” Saget said.

“Well, I mean, we can find him,” Sweetin joked. “There’s a headless Sea Pappy somewhere.”
