Joe Amabile is all for expressing his love for Christmas, but he and his wife, Serena Pitt, have seemingly different levels of enthusiasm for holiday decorating.
Christmas is especially special for Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise alum, she tells PEOPLE, speaking at her and Wells Adams’ Cocktail Collection Holiday Party earlier this month. “I love Christmas. I hate guys who say ‘I’m a Christmas guy,’ but I am a Christmas guy,” he says.
However, it seems Pitt was more eager than her husband to dress up for when she and Amabile will be at their New York home over the holidays.

“After Thanksgiving, we had Thanksgiving in Chicago, we went back to New York, looking at our schedule for the rest of the month,” he explains. “We’re literally going to be in New York for six days and Serena made us decorate the whole apartment for another six days. And our apartment is 700 square feet if we’re lucky. What’s the point of this?”
Amabile doubles back, adding “What’s the point? But it’s there,” before admitting, “Honestly, I love it.”

Then, because of Amabile’s awkward ceiling, he fell in love with his wife’s improvised arrangement. “Our ceiling started leaking about seven days ago. It was a serious problem,” he recounts. “All over our bed, I had to clean the bed.”
“Then we had to sleep in our living room and we had a little sleepover and all the lights and the tree were there,” he says. “It was kind of sweet. It was sweet.”

Amabile and Pitt met while filming the seventh season Bachelor in Paradise. The two became an item and were engaged by the finale of that season. They were originally married in a low-key courthouse ceremony on Oct. 27, 2022, but decided to exchange vows again surrounded by friends and family nearly a year later, on Sept. 2, 2023. Amabile told PEOPLE after the second ceremony that it was “the happiest moment of our lives.”
“This time feels like the beginning of an exciting new chapter and we look forward to continuing our life together,” he added.
