Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner reached an agreement on temporary custody of their daughters until the beginning of 2024.

In court documents obtained by PEOPLE on Tuesday, the temporary consent order ordered custody of the estranged couple’s daughters for the following weeks after they “engaged in productive mediation from October 4-7.”

The agreement only extends through Jan. 7, so going forward the agreement requires “the parties to jointly file a status report letter” before Dec. 23, describing the status of the mediation between the two at that time.

The mediation comes after Turner sued her estranged husband for unlawful detention, alleging that Jonas was withholding their passports and not allowing them to return to England. The lawsuit against the musician called for the “immediate return of the children who were wrongfully taken or wrongfully detained,” and Turner’s legal team claims the “wrongful detention” began on September 20.

Shortly after Turner filed her complaint, Jonas released a statement disputing her claims and said he believed the two had reached an agreement to work on a co-parenting plan.

Just days later, the two reached a temporary agreement to keep their two daughters in New York, according to documents filed in New York and obtained by PEOPLE.

The temporary consent order states that Turner and Jonas must keep their children in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, which includes New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley.

On September 5, the musician filed for divorce in Miami with his wife of four years. The filing claimed that “the marriage between the parties has been irretrievably dissolved.” According to the divorce petition, the couple has a prenuptial agreement.

The divorce filing also included a reference to the couple’s two children, saying “A parenting plan should be established that addresses all parenting issues and includes a time-sharing schedule that provides for frequent and ongoing contact by both parties. The children lived with their father in Miami and other locations across the United States.”
