JOEY Barton threatened Gary Neville after the bookie hit back at his sexist tirade about a serial killer.
The former Manchester City star has been criticized in recent weeks for making vile remarks against female pundits – who he claims are “not qualified” to talk about men’s football.

He has now attacked one of the biggest names in football in the country in a post on Xu, formerly Twitter, after Neville backed the ITV comments.
“Gary, please put your head down or you’re going to pass out too,” Barton said.
“I know they pay your salary and I don’t want to have to lock you up.
“Take care of one of the other 3758 business things you have.
“I’ll decide when it’s gone too far. Not you.”
Barton responded to the threat Neville supports ITV’s announcement who called out Barton’s earlier sexist comments comparing female experts to serial killers.
Neville said the women in his family faced discrimination in the game and his brother was mocked when he took over the national women’s team.
He said: “Well done ITV. This has gone too far and the reference to serial killers is just unbelievable.”
“I come from a family that has been struggling with these problems for years, and I witnessed it firsthand.
“All of this is just discouraging and not the way forward. It’s a damn hard job for women to succeed in sports and media without these things,” he posted.
On Friday morning, Barton, 41, took aim at pundits Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward, whom he called the “Fred and Rose West of football”.
Fred and Rose West were two of Britain’s worst serial killers.
The couple kidnapped, tortured, raped and killed numerous young women over a 20-year period.
Speaking about Aluko, Barton tweeted: “How does she even talk about men’s football. She can’t even kick a ball properly.
“Your coverage of the EFC match last night hit a new low.
“Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward, Fred and Rose West of Football Commentary.”
Barton has already been called out on social media by Laura Woods, Bianca Westwood and Piers Morgan, as well as thousands of fans.
ITV Sport hit back at the ex-pro in a statement on Xu, ex-Twitter, to which Neville responded.
The ITV post said: “For Joey Barton, a former professional player with a significant social media presence, to target two of our pundits, Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward, with such vindictive gender-based remarks and including the names of serial killers is clearly valuable contempt and shame on his part.
– Football is for everyone.
It comes after Alex Scott was branded a “total classmate” when she hit back at his sexist comments.
Scott, 39 – who said she “doesn’t want to give Joey Barton oxygen” – has now taken aim with an impassioned message on live TV.
Barton is one of the most controversial figures in football, having served time in prison for assault in 2008.
He was sacked as Bristol Rovers manager in October, weeks after fans criticized him for “throwing his own player under the bus”.
Both Joey Barton and Gary Neville have been approached for comment.
Neville was a pundit for ITV at the 2002 World Cup while injured, as well as Euro 2008 and the 2018 World Cup.
