Joginder Sharma is a former Indian cricketer and DSP of Haryana Police. He is famous for bowling in the final over of the 2007 T20 World Cup, which India won.

In the 1999-2000 season, he represented the rest of India’s Under-16 team in the Polly Umrigar Trophy. He made his debut for Haryana in the 2002-03 Ranji Trophy against Madhya Pradesh and as a bowling all-rounder, he scored 81 runs and took 11 wickets for a total of 84 point. In his first season, he took 24 wickets and scored 280 runs. In the following Ranji season of 2003-04, he took 23 wickets and scored 148 runs. He was subsequently selected for the North Zone team, which won the Duleep Trophy, and took 6 wickets with a score of 59 against West Zone. He later played for India A and caught the attention of the selectors by dismissing Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh in one match. In the 2004-05 season, he took 14 wickets and scored 116 runs against Vidarbha and scored consecutive centuries during the season, finishing with 36 wickets and 472 runs. for the entire season. In the 2006-07 Ranji season, he took the most wickets and scored 421 runs in 3 games in the Duleep Trophy. He also captained Haryana during the domestic season.

He only represented India in the 2007 T20 World Cup. On 19 September 2007, he made his debut against England at Kingsmeadow in Durban. On 22 September 2007, in the semi-final against Australia at Kingsmead, Durban, he took the wickets of Michael Hussey and Brett Lee and scored 37 runs. On 24 September 2007, in the final against Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, he took the wicket of Younis Khan and the final wicket of Misbah-ul-Haq to help India win by 5 points advantage to win the final and win the World Cup trophy.

He was appointed as DSP of Haryana Police on September 4, 2007. He joined on October 5, 2007 and completed his basic training from Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban. From 2023, he is posted in Hisar, Haryana. In 2020, amid the Covid-19 outbreak, the ICC appreciated his work and called him a real-life hero.

Police opened a case for threatening his cousin
In September 2011, his cousin Sonu Sharma complained that Joginder Sharma, his mother Dhanpati and sister-in-law Neelam Devi forcibly entered Sonu’s house, abused him and his mother Murti Devi, and beat them. He claimed that the quarrel took place over the issue of compensation for the acquisition of Sonu’s shop on Jhajjar Road. When asked about the incident, Joginder denied any quarrel with Sonu.
