Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., tried to claim that Donald Trump Jr. committed a felony during a meeting at Trump Tower, but was interrupted by former special counsel John Durham.
The conversation took place during Durham’s hearing on Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee. Before the 2016 election, Trump Jr. met with Russians at Trump Tower, according to Schiff, who claimed the meeting was illegal.
Are you aware, Mr. Durham, yes [Robert] Investigations by Mueller and Congress have also shown that Don Jr. was tipped off that a Russian official was trying to provide the Trump campaign with “very high-level and sensitive information” that would be detrimental to Hillary Clinton. Schiff asked.

After a request from Durham that Schiff rephrase the query, Schiff responded: “I suggest that people can keep calling and making allegations. Maybe you have knowledge about it.
Are you really trying to downplay what happened here and the secret meeting the president’s son set up at Trump Tower to get that damaging information? Pressed by Schiff.
Durham said: “I’m not trying to downplay anything at all, but I think the big picture is that they met, it was a sham and they didn’t talk about Ms. Clinton. “I don’t think it was a smart move,” the speaker said.
Oh, that was a bad idea. That’s the biggest understatement of the year. Do you think it’s right, or maybe it’s an error of judgement, for the presidential campaign to secretly meet with the Russian delegation to learn bad things about their rival? Schiff asked.
