John Krasinski Resurrects Classic The Office Joke to Promote New Ryan Reynolds Film IF

The actor from ‘Deadpool’ is welcomed by an unexpected guest in a new look behind the scenes of the film

Randall Park just joined Ryan Reynolds to pay homage to the classic joke from Office.

Reynolds (47) and John Krasinski released a new teaser for their upcoming film, IFwith the help of Park, 49. Front IF teaser during Sunday’s Super Bowl, audiences got a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming film.

Monday’s teaser recreates the iconic scene from the season nine episode of the NBC series, “Andy’s Ancestry,” when Park poses as Krasinski’s character, Jim Halpert.

During the episode, Jim (Krasinski, 44) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) have their friend Steve (Park) play Jim for a prank on Dwight (Rainn Wilson). Throughout the episode, Park Jim adamantly states that he’s always been the one Jim Dwight has worked with for years. Krasinski’s Jim and Pam remove all photos of the real couple together and provide pictures of a fake couple to get Dwight out.

In the new preview, Park again states that he is is Krasinski. But this time he insists to Reynolds that he was always the one IF director and writer.

After Reynolds told Park, “You’re not John Krasinski. You are Randall Park,” the Always be my maybe the star tells him, “Uh, Ryan, I know it’s been a while since filming, but we spent about four months together, like 10-hour days.”

“A ten-hour workday? The real John Krasinski knows I only work four hours a day,” Reynolds counters. But as he does, Park looks directly into the camera, prompting Reynolds to shout, “Did you just break the fourth wall?”

Then, as in Officethe teaser places Park in Krasinski’s videos.

The Fresh off the boat the star is seen in the director’s chair explaining to the audience that the upcoming film is about fictional friends and that he had “an idea for a film about seven years ago.” As the behind-the-scenes clips continue, Park laughs, talks and directs the cast and crew.

While Park does not appear in the film, Krasinski has reunited with his former TV boss, Steve Carrell — who voices one of the main imaginary friends.

Alongside Carrell and Reynolds, the live-action and animated film stars Cailey Fleming, who portrays Bea, a young girl who can see other people’s imaginary friends.

The IF The cast also includes Jon Stewart, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins, Awkwafina and Louis Gossett Jr.
