John Mulaney Returning to Broadway in New Comedy About Love with Chloe Fineman, Fred Armisen and More

John Mulaney returns to Broadway this December.

The comedian returns to the boards in a new play adapted from short stories by humorist Simon Rich, with whom he previously worked as a writer on Saturday night live.

Called All In: Comedy about love by Simon Richthe show will tell “funny stories about dating, heartbreak, marriage and stuff like that,” according to a statement.

“Even though the show is all over the place, it’s meant to tell one simple story: that the most important part of life is who we share it with. We hope everyone likes it, even if it was the idea of ​​their date coming and them starting from a place of quiet resentment. ”

Performances begin December 11 for a limited 10-week run at the Hudson Theater in New York. The opening night has yet to be announced.

Mulaney will be joined in the four-character play by a rotating cast of stars, including Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry (Girls5Eva, Hamilton), beloved comedian Richard Kind (crazy about you, Just the murders in the building), and two SNL stars making their Broadway debut: Fred Armisen and Chloe Fineman.

Goldsberry will join the show from (December 11 – December 30), while Fineman will star in the show from (January 2, 2025 – January 12)

Additional casting for the rest of the series will be announced at a later date.

No roles have been announced for each actor. According to the post: “Sometimes they’ll play pirates, sometimes they’ll play dogs, and there’s one where we make them do British accents.”

Tony Award winner Alex Timbers will direct. He has worked with Mulaney three times already: in standup star specials Kid Gorgeous and Baby Jas well as Oh, hi — a play Mulaney and Nick Kroll co-starred on Broadway in 2016 (The taped version of the stage play is now streaming on Netflix).

Among the producers? Saturday night live honcho Lorne Michaels, who previously produced the stage musical adaptation Mean girls and Tom Stoppard Leopoldstadt.
