In AEW, there is a case for and against longer-term contracts with the elite. He is a former IMPACT world champion, infamous during his time in the indie world. Elliott was also well known during his time in WWE and became a singles and team fighter. However, AEW’s roster is getting bigger and bigger this week, and a talent like MJF, who’s been on it since the beginning, isn’t too happy to be paid less than a former WWE player.
In short, this is a 42-year-old journeyman who has seen and done pretty much everything in the pro wrestling industry. And there are worse things than having a performer like this hanging around in the background. However, AEW is full of equally grizzly veterans, from Sting and Christian Cage to Hardy Boyz and Billy Gunn. Not to mention Chris Jericho, CM Punk and Dustin Rhodes. Sure, Elite is a steady hand, but he’s also another name on the list where AEW can have a hard time timing. A performer of his caliber doesn’t enjoy working in AEW Dark every week. Maybe it’s a case of Elite being brought back in a match like the one against Joe, but without any lengthy AEW on-field storylines.
