Josh Duhamel admits he’s “come to terms” with the reasons his marriage to Fergie ended.
In a new interview shared Wednesday with In detail with Graham Bensinger podcast, the transformers The 50-year-old star reflected on his past marriage to the former Black Eyed Peas singer (48).
According to Duhamel, a big factor in the split came down to their difference in lifestyles.
“I don’t think I ever liked it all,” he said, talking about how intense Hollywood can be. “I just missed the simplicity of who I really am, you know?”
“I’m just not the guy who likes to go on red carpets. He does all the Hollywood stuff,” the Life as we know it added the actor.

Fergie filed for divorce from Duhamel in 2019 after eight years of marriage. They share one child together, son Axl, 10. Duhamel married Audra Mari, 29, in Fargo, North Dakota, in September 2022. The couple is currently expecting their first child together.
“I made peace with that part of my life. She and I have a great relationship,” he told Bensinger. “There was nothing wrong with that. We had a great time. I think we kind of outgrew each other and had very different interests.”
“I’m not angry about it. Really not,” Duhamel continued. “I am very happy that she is a kind person.”

Although he had success in Hollywood, it took him a long time to feel that he “fit in”.
“Hollywood and LA and that whole lifestyle can suck your soul out if you’re not careful,” Duhamel added.
The A safe haven the star revealed that his experiences in his previous marriage were a drastic change compared to the current one.
“That’s why Audra is so good for me. We’re both die-hard North Dakotans,” he said after discovering his lake house was a place where he could “get back to who I really am.”

Mari joined her husband and Bensinger for part of the interview and the couple talked about wanting to continue growing their family.
While jokingly referring to Duhamel’s sister who previously stated that she A shotgun wedding the actor “always wanted to have eight or nine children,” Mari expanded on the idea.
“I will say that age doesn’t usually come up, but it definitely does when we’re talking about having children,” added the former Miss World, American beauty queen. “I really believe he’d have five more kids if he was even 40 now. It’s probably true. We’ll definitely have a few though. Hopefully, God willing.”

“That’s the hope,” Duhamel said.
They shared their baby announcement in September in a joint Instagram post.
The proud father has also spoken openly about his co-parenting relationship with Fergie on several occasions.
“[We] had to be a positive example for Axl,” Duhamel said in an interview on Wednesday. “It’s just that we both wanted the same thing—to create a comfortable place for him that wasn’t awkward, uncomfortable, or pressure-filled.”
