Joyce Nizzari News

Nina Daniele has been named the latest Playmate of the Year by Playboy. The Bronx native is the first since the demise of its founder Hugh Hefner in 2017 at the age of 91, the men’s lifestyle publication said on Tuesday.

Daniele pays homage to the Femlin, a pinup icon conceived by Hefner and illustrated by Leroy Neiman, in her 11-page retro-inspired pictorial, which was captured by fashion photographer Jennifer Stenglein. The May 1963 issue featured The Femlin for the first time.

When nudity was reinstated, Daniele first featured in Playboy’s March/April 2017 edition as the April Playmate of the Month. In 2015, Playboy ceased publishing nude pictorials.

A native of the Bronx has previously been on Playboy. A “half-century personal and professional relationship with Hef” was sparked by Joyce Nizzari’s Playmate photo essay in December 1958. Playboy set up a meeting between Daniele and Nizzari to talk about their upbringings and the future of the magazine in honour of Daniele’s new position.

“It means so much to me – to not only be seen in my most vulnerable state, but to also be presented, in words, for who I am,” Danielle stated in the May/June 2018 issue. “How my heart functions and how my brain works are essential to Playboy. I was able to discuss how it feels to be a woman in today’s culture through Playboy.

The magazine has made several significant announcements besides Daniele’s title. Cooper Hefner, the son of Hefner, and the chief creative officer of Playboy announced that the company will drop its previous tagline, “Entertainment for Men,” in favour of “Entertainment for All.”

“Playboy’s content has always been and always will be created with the male point-of-view and our take on masculinity in mind,” he stated in a release emailed to Fox News. The truth is that women who interact with Playboy at our events, clubs, and through our goods and fashion collaborations are just one of the many fan demographics that the Playboy brand currently caters to.

Cooper continued, “I had a desire to reflect that on the cover of Playboy magazine just as we’ve done on Playboy.com for many months now.”

The May/June 2018 edition will also feature an interview with Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, as well as the introduction of two Playmates, Shauna Sexton and Cassandra Dawn.
