Julia Roberts Reveals the Classic ‘90s Sitcom That She Comfort Watched with Her Three Kids (Exclusive)

Julia Roberts and her three children have new value for the popular 1990s sitcom.

In his new thriller Leave the world behind, there is a touching bow Friends as the character of Robert’s daughter Rose, played by Farrah Mackenzie, seeks solace in the imaginary world of the beloved sitcom.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE alongside costar Mahershal Ali, Roberts, who is a mother of three with husband Danny Moder — 19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and son Henry, 16 — discussed their new film and shared her surprise TV fun show .

“I discovered the series with my children, Wonderful yearswhich I’ve never seen before,” says the star, 56. “And boy, did we always look forward to snuggling with it.”

Turning to Ali, 49, who has a six-year-old daughter Bari with wife Amatus Sami-Karim, Roberts adds: “You’ll have to check that out when your little girl is a bit older.”

In return, Ali tells PEOPLE she has her own surprise comfort show. “You made me think alone“, he notes about the History show. “I kind of love that show.”

“I have a bit of an inner isolationist in me. I just love seeing how intelligent some of these people are, the things they can create and build on their own. The skill set and the fact that they’re doing it themselves. I also like a bit House Hunters,” he adds. “Nothing too dramatic before you calm down. People who find their dream, great, I’m happy for you — and 1702221732 I’m going to sleep and dream.”
