Justin’s vacation comes nearly a month after the highly anticipated film premieres on August 9. During the film’s promotional tour, fans started buzzing on social media about rumors of a rift between the stars.

The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover. Amid reports of behind-the-scenes drama, Baldoni spoke with Ella UK on “friction”.

“There’s all these things that happen every day on set, there’s always friction that happens when you’re making a movie like this,” he said. “Then at the end of the day, that friction, I believe, creates beautiful art. Everything in life needs friction to grow.”

He added: “We created something so beautiful and so magical, it was difficult and rewarding at the same time. And I grew so much as a director, and as an actor, and as a person during this experience.”

Brandon Sklenar, who plays Atlas, also spoke out in an Instagram post on Aug. 20 to “address all this stuff going around online.”

“Colleen and the women in this lineup stand for hope, perseverance, and for women choosing a better life for themselves,” Sklenar wrote. “Belittling the women who put so much of their heart and soul into making this film because they believe so strongly in its message seems counterproductive and detracts from what this film is about. It is, in fact, the opposite of the point.
