K. Annamalai is a politician from Tamil Nadu, India. He is the current Chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu. He is a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who served as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Coimbatore Range.
Annamalai was born in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu in 1973. He studied at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad and was commissioned as an IPS officer in 1996. He has served in various positions in the police force, including as City Police Superintendent (SP). of Coimbatore and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Tirunelveli range.
In 2017, Annamalai resigned from the police force to go into politics. He joined the BJP and was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in the 2019 Tenkasi constituency election. He has been appointed BJP state chairman in 2021.
Annamalai is a popular figure in Tamil Nadu politics. He is known for his tough stance on law and order and his pro-Hindu views. He is also seen as a potential future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election, Annamalai was re-elected from the Tenkasi constituency. She won with a margin of over 40,000 votes.
