- Kanwaljit appeared for the NDA Air Force and Merchant Navy examinations when he was 17 years old. He was rejected because of hearing problems.
- Later, he became interested in acting and enrolled in FTII’s acting course. He auditioned in Delhi. He said in an interview that he knew nothing about acting. During the audition, he read lines from the script in Dev Anand style and the judges were really disappointed.
- Kanwaljit felt uncomfortable in the Mumbai environment when he first came into contact with it, but later he adapted to the lifestyle and got used to it.
- The government has ordered that actors over the age of 65 will not be allowed to film after the lockdown ends in 2020. He objected to the rule, saying in an interview,
This rule needs to change. Otherwise, what will I do with the hundreds of actors? We love our jobs, we love our jobs, how can the government stop us? Will the authorities wake up when a senior actor commits suicide due to depression due to unemployment? Not every veteran cast member or unit member can get through these difficult times by simply sitting at home instead of working. There was no food and we started eating in mosques and cemeteries. The cemetery is behind the hill and the locals serve food there and are very polite and generous. We also ate at the mosque. They would feed us lots of rice and a spoonful of dal. We can’t even think of offering them money because they are so full of love and generosity. They expect nothing but our love. On the other hand, some people charge $4,000 per blanket per night. “
